Skinny Minnie?

Yesterday, I saw an article that somewhat disturbed me. It was on Yahoo! Shine and written by Joanna Douglas, the senior fashion and beauty editor. It's titled Minnie Mouse, Daisy Duck Whittled Down for Barneys's Holiday Campaign. The images, and subsequent short film, are part of Barney's New York holiday campaign. The familiar Disney characters have been morphed and elongated to an almost unrecognizable size - They're smaller than Barbie.

The characters will be debuted on November 14th on Madison Ave. Here's a direct quote from the article:
Mickey Mouse will be dressed in Balenciaga, Minnie Mouse in Lanvin, Goofy in Balmain, Daisy Duck in Dolce & Gabbana, Snow White in Nina Ricci, Cruella de Vil in Rick Owens, and Princess Tiana in Proenza Schouler. We take no issue with a wardrobe change, but from the few advanced illustrations we've seen the characters' bodies look absurd, even for cartoons.
Personally, I think 5'11" Minnie looks ridiculous, and I want to see what the rest of the characters look like. Minnie's a weird mash-up of the original Minnie (at bottom), Jessica Rabbit, and Gisele Bündchen.

I actually really like Daisy's dress, though I feel guilty about it, because she looks emaciated.

This is not the real Goofy. He wouldn't wear Balmain, let's get real. I think just growing up with the Disney characters, I'm not ready for this drastic of a change in their appearances. Understandably, the original characters won't look exactly right in designer clothes, but are they really supposed to wear them? I think I'll just stick with the OPI Minnie Collection.
