I'm so excited to share with you all a mini apartment tour, finally. I moved into my one bedroom in June right after my 21st birthday, and I still couldn't be happier living alone. I've loved those candlelit good book nights, and the peace and quiet to have long study sessions. Though Boyfriend lives in the city at his own place, I love that I have a space that I call my own, and it's taken five months to get it here.
I've done my fair share of DIY crafts and made numerous trips to IKEA and Target. I also inherited a lot of vases from AJK for flowers and to display assorted things, like wine corks.
Confetti Painting/Letter Pillow
I really need to work on investing in coffee table books. Right now I use French cook books. I also added a candle and a gourd for color. The couch, cable knit throw, and pillow are from IKEA. I go through a fair amount of candles and I always pull from the stash at home.
Suze and I crafted a Faux Fur Rug and I keep moving it from the floor to over the couch. I just can't decide where I like it best. I also have two side tables (from garage sales) that I keep books and nail polish, and extra blankets under. Underneath my coffee table (from IKEA) I keep extra magazines and text books, letters from penpals, and candles.
I picked this chair up for my freshmen year dorm and it's one of the most comfortable things in my apartment. My mother also made these monogrammed pillows for me freshmen year using nautical print. The white flannel side has boats, and the blue side has anchors.
I love my bookshelf. Out of all of the things in my apartment, I think it's one item that says the most about me. I keep my recipe, SAI, and foreign language books on the top shelf, along with my DVDs. The middle shelf has my recreational reading, and the bottom shelf has binders, GRE/GMAT texts, and extra cords and cables.
Poetry leftover from crafting succulent books with AJK. We cut out a biography and book of poetry to plant succulents, and we had a ton of leftover paper that we watercolored. I chose "O Captain, My Captain" by Walt Whitman among other poems to display around my apartment. The frames are IKEA. I use a bowl from Target as a catch-all, or as Boyfriend calls it, a ketchup.
How do you decorate your living space?
I'm also looking for guest posters for my Shoreline of the Month series. If you have a shoreline that is special to you and you want to post about it here, leave a comment below or email me!
